In April 2018, Raw Alchemy Theatre Company held a Fundraiser Showcase at the Vaults in Cirencester. The funds made at the showcase were split 50/50 between Raw Alchemy’s performance of Chatroom at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2018 and Samaritans. In one evening, Raw Alchemy and other young artists entertained a packed audience with; Stand-up comedy, Musical Theatre, Monologues, Duologues, Musicianship and much more. As a result of the audience’s generosity we were able to surpass all our expectations in terms of how much we could raise and we were able to make a large donation to Samaritans.
Due to the time spent exploring the themes of Chatroom, in particular those associated with Suicide and mental health within young people, Samaritans became a charity that Raw Alchemy became very close too. The work that Samaritans do with people of all ages who are mentally unwell is something that Raw Alchemy wanted to support as much as possible, whether that be through directing people to the Charity after performances or through directly raising money a donating it to them.
The evening was a huge success and something that Company found very beneficial in so many ways. Look out for more information in regards to potential upcoming showcases, with young talent from around the country brought together.
